[He does slip one leg behind the other completely on coincidence, ankle resting against his Archille's tendon, toes barely brushing the carpet. The slow strokes along the painted wood stop and he exhales silently, wandering the street below in his gaze, nothing in particular holding his attention.
He thinks about turning it to visual, but it's not gonna show much, save for a dizzying second story view straight down.]
C'mon, Rin. We both know you're way more focused on the future. [He listens to the splish of water and wonders what Rin's moving. His legs, his arms? The sound of his voice isn't echoing, so his head's probably tilted.] It's waiting for you.
[Rin didn't live in the past. Sousuke... how many times did he catch himself thinking back on so many memories? The way he felt when Rin dove over his head after tagging him in their first and final relay. The time Rin slipped a chunk of wasabi into his sushi and spent the rest of the evening running for his life. Over the silence that grew and bloomed over those five years, Sousuke found himself wondering... Did you want to forget me?
He draws back from the window, sliding arms from the sill and letting them drop to his sides. The air's colder now, prickling his skin as it wraps around his body. Maybe he should put some clothes on or something... Fingers drift upward and brush over the black material wrapped around his right shoulder. The past is far more comfortable than the present... and exists where there is no future. Sousuke traces down the hard shell of the brace, following the strap across his chest. Of course he wants to go back there, to those times as kids.
He's happy there.]
I know. [Neither of them thought about these things as kids. As Rin's voice muffles, his own softens, tongue tracing each syllable again.] Rin... Maybe these feelings are fake. They wouldn't exist here without this city influencing us. Maybe what we said in the rain is a lie... But...
When we go home... [It's scary to admit this and he swallows silently.] I want this dream to come true there as well.
